SEWING MACHINE MECHANIC

Summary of Essential Functions:

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain sewing machines and related equipment
  • Replace, repair and/or calibrate mechanical systems as needed
  • Work alongside other technicians for repairs to ensure safety and quality
  • Use machine tool manuals technical documents and vendor resources to research and diagnose mechanical/electrical problems
  • Complete testing and benchmarks for machines
  • Complete and document PM on Sewing Machines
  • Acting as the initial escalation point for related work items
  • Train, mentor, and coach new and current employees
  • Delivering excellent communications across the organization, both written and verbal form
  • Maintaining poise, professionalism and working independently without supervision
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge and experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing sewing machines and related equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanics and the mechanical fit of components, assemblies, and sub-assemblies as applied to the precision tolerances required for maintaining and/or restoring the Sewing machines to O. E. M. specifications
  • Experience with the following; installation and precision alignment of machine tool mechanisms perform mechanical scraping of machine tool ways, bearings and mating surfaces to support ball screw replacement, gearbox rebuilds, linear guide replacement, spindle rebuild/replacement
  • 4+ years experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing at least two of the following; electronic, electrical or mechanical systems
  • All positions require close attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment between several different departments
  • Ability to interact with employees of all levels and backgrounds
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, mechanical drawings, schematics, and diagrams
  • Lifting of up to 50 lbs. and manipulating bulky sub-assemblies and parts/tooling
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Must have good manual dexterity, the ability to use various hand tools and gages, ability to climb and work at elevated heights, exert considerable physical effort, bend, lift, stoop, climb
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver s license
